How it works
What is compared
- Groups and channels present in only one file, a data type that changed, a channel that got longer or shorter.
- Properties of the file, of each group and of each channel: added, removed or changed.
- Groups of records, such as test steps with text and numbers in rows: row by row, lined up as a text diff lines up lines, so that a step inserted in the middle is one added row and not every row after it changed.
- Groups of measurements: value by value, with the number of values that differ, the first one, the largest difference, and the minimum, maximum and mean of each file. A channel can be plotted from both files on one plot.
How values are compared
Channels are matched by group and channel name, never by position. Values are compared exactly, on the value stored in the file, so that a difference shown is in the file and not a rounding. Channels longer than one million values are compared value by value on their first million values, and by their statistics over all of them.
